Broadway Legend Carol Channing, a star still burning bright with
a new documentary, patriotic CD and paper doll book.
Carol Channing is a larger than life personality, a truly unique talent and a great star. Although now in her 90s, she continues to occupy the spotlight. She is soon to be the subject of a highly anticipated and already critically acclaimed documentary film and also the subject of a new paper doll book. In addition, Carol Channing: True to the Red, White & Blue is a new CD of patriotic songs, a project aimed to promote the return of the arts in Americas public school system.
Authorized by the star herself, the new collectible paper doll book published by Paper Studio Press and illustrated by artist David Wolfe is expected to be released early in 2012. It will feature a trio of dolls that capture the legendary stars sparkling personality, a combination of glamour and comic genius. Eight pages of costumes from many of Miss Channings most famous roles are ready to cut-out and dress the dolls. Among the twenty carefully researched and meticulously painted outfits in the book are flapper fashions from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Thoroughly Modern Millie plus show stopping turn-of the-century styles from Hello, Dolly! Also included are chic contemporary looks worn by the star in stage and television appearances.
The highly anticipated and already critically acclaimed documentary is entitled Carol Channing: Larger Than Life. Directed by multiple Tony Award winner Director/Producer, Ms. Dori Berinstein, the film will be released nationwide January 20, 2012. Along with Miss Channing, it features stars including Debbie Reynolds, Betty Garrett, Lily Tomlin, Tyne Daly, Tommy Tune, Chita Rivera, Phyllis Diller and many others who share their love for the theatrical icon. The film offers rare insights and information including Miss Channings first screen kiss with Clint Eastwood, the heartbreaking losses of cast members to AIDS and a battle with ovarian cancer during her tour as Dolly.
On her new CD, Ms. Channing is using her highly recognizable voice for recording songs such as God Bless America, Battle Hymn of the Republic and America, The Beautiful. It is her fervent hope that these songs will now reignite a sense of pride in the American public and serve as a call to action of our children.
