Singing star and Academy Award winning actress, Shirley Jones, will soon be a paper doll starring in a brand new book, created with his signature flair by famed artist, Jim Howard.
To be published in 2011 by Paper Studio Press, the book will feature the pretty fresh-faced blonde star as she appeared in big screen versions of Rogers and Hammersteins great musicals Oklahoma!, Carousel and Meridith Willson's The Music Man. She later became an icon playing the matriarch in the phenomenal hit TV series, The Partridge Family. Eight pages of costumes from her films, including her 1960 Oscar-winning role in Elmer Gantry, will be ready to cut-out and dress the paper dolls.
This new collectible paper doll book is a delightful souvenir of the star's remarkable career. The pretty Pennsylvanian won a beauty contest and received a scholarship to a theatrical school. She soon went off to give Broadway a try and her Cinderella success story took off when she auditioned for the legendary team of Rogers and Hammerstein who put her under contract. While touring, she got the word that Holllywood stardrom awaited her. A top star, she appeared on TV variety shows with Carol Burnett, Perry Como, Andy Williams and Dean Martin. Her cinematic and TV successes continued for decades and were followed by popular tours in many musical revivals and appearances.
