Introduced
in 1995 by creator Mel Odom, "Gene" is a very stylish fashion
doll based on a fictional movie star of the '40s and '50s. Gene
Marshall dolls, exquisitely wardrobed, were so successful that Odom
created addtional dolls including chic villianess Madra Lord, Gene's
leading man Trent Osborn, her fashionable best friend Ivy (Vee J.) Jordan,
and the sultry Violet Waters.
These
glamorous vinyl dolls are now
available as paper dolls in a book by Jim Howard, one of the greatest
fashion illustrators of all time. His commercial work graced the advertising
of many of America's most prestigious fashion retailers such as Neiman
Marcus and Bonwit Teller.
"Gene
and her Friends" is lavishly illustrated in Jim Howard's beautifully
artistic style, featuring 5 dolls and 8 pages of stylish outfits.
